IDC: Deploying Flexible Data Protection to Support Cloud Workload Placement

Digital Transformation (DX) projects are designed to help companies better use data to gain competitive advantage. This advantage can be realized in two ways. First, it is obvious that organizations with higher data availability will have a relative advantage over those experiencing data outages. Businesses that cannot process customer transactions can permanently lose revenue and the customer. Then, companies that can leverage data analytics to learn more about their customers, identify cost savings, or discover better merchandising will find market opportunities where others fail.

Studies conducted by IDC over the past few years show that 60% of companies have either committed to or completed a DX project. According to research conducted by IDC for this document, sponsored by Dell Technologies, Intel, and VMware, 91% of respondents believe that infrastructure modernization is “very” or “extremely” important to Phase DX success .
