Should you move SAP to the cloud?

When you’ve always run your SAP workloads in your on-premises data centre, it might be tempting to keep on doing what you’ve always done, particularly if your IT team has little experience of the cloud and of moving workloads to it. You might also believe that cloud infrastructure is not for you be it for financial, performance or security reasons.

But cloud computing is on almost everyone’s agenda, with cloud expected to grow from USD 445.3 billion in 2021 to USD 947.3 billion by 2026 (MarketsandMarkets). In a survey conducted by ASUG with 114 members, it showed that 15% moved to the cloud in 2022 and 73% are considering a move within the next years.

We will also look at the benefits – and challenges - of the cloud, but first, here are some of the triggers or compelling events we consistently see with our clients as to why they want to move their SAP ECC systems to the cloud. Perhaps some resonate with you?
